This could lead to the displacement of profitable and needed retailers in place of more housing in high streets, as landlords will naturally seek to maximise the value of their ownerships if they can. Should a sensible compromise position be found, then it is likely that the Topshop stores will either be re-let to other retailers — or in some instances re-purposed into non-retail.
