Why does slimming world not work for me

What I really do not understand and get really annoyed about is the fact that sw does not acknowledge that muscle weighs heavier than fat, we can change our shape and go down a dress size but not lose weight. I am due to go back this week but have an event that I am going to on the 5th June which entails a meal and drink, so booking another holiday week in.

Too be honest I have decided to not buy into another 12 week count down, as I have wasted a lot in my eyes, the consultant is lovely but I have made no bones to the fact that I am not happy with my weight loss struggle and they have not done a great lot to support that.

Sorry for the rant, I do like going to group, but have been getting increasingly upset with the way things have been going for me and not sure how much more I can take of it.

SW has been the catalyst to my weight loss, helping my mindset to health improvements, so a big thanks! However I too have outgrown their advice and need rethink everything. I have never had a healthy relationship with food and yoyo like crazy between eating really well and binging on the bad stuff because I feel overly restricted by SW.

Now I know SW is great for those people who need the help to get started on eating better and learning to cook from scratch, but I miss tasty food and I can cook VERY healthy delicious meals!

And there is the problem. Tasty food ahoy! Hiya, I started Slimming World a couple of months ago, just went today and somehow put weight on even though I followed the diet to a T! Me too. I lost 11 lbs in the first 3. I joined sw last May with 18 lbs to lose at Christmas I was 1. The journey was painfully slow. I had no idea what I was doing wrong!! I have a good week do the same thing the next and gain!! And my relationship with food now is worse then ever!

Hi kate just found ur blog after searching sw vs spin. I work 12 hour shifts so have days off in the week which is great. So really this is just a thank u post for helping me see sense xx. I exercise and eat healthy but restricted with avocados, nuts etc and have developed a dairy and sulphite allergy since being a member. Join the Conversation. That sounds like my kind of club! The Good for Life Club!! Hi Kate, Your blog….. So salad veg etc. Have fruit and veg for snacks. I do yes i eat loads of salad with my meals. Cutting out junk etc would indeed work. But to be perfectly honest it is so unrealistic.

I love food! Good food. And the idea of just eating chicken and veg for every meal every day sounds so depressing. Isnt everything ok in moderation? I may need to cut down on my carbs but i dont think to cut them out completly.

You said that you think carbs aren't great for your body so doing the red plan would make you limit your intake of these but you can still enjoy some. Also, make sure you're eating your syns every day and drinking plenty of water. It's hard to tell of you're following the plan properly from what you've written.

I'm sure if you wrote down everything that passes your lips for one day on here then lots of people would offer advice. Other fitness activities To buy or not to buy. Other fitness activities To run or not to run Can't find your answer?

Despite Slimming World mantras, calories DO matter, as the most basic science behind weight loss is calories in versus calories out. By SW rules, a whole banana is a free food, but a mushed banana, e. So despite the exact same nutritional value, the syn value varies depending on whether you eat it whole, or break it down.

Simply put, it does matter, because calories do matter. This is one of the many contradictions that runs through the core of Slimming World. In fact, you can have 3 chocolate bars depending on the type for the value of an avocado.

What is that teaching us about food? In order to lose weight and keep it off, there needs to be steps taken to improve your relationship with food — an understanding of portion control, being able to distinguish real hunger from boredom, and so on. Instead of using syns within cooking like butter, sauces, or oils, or having the occasional sweet treat because we all need them , some members will have a daily plate of syns.

This can include popcorn, sweets, chocolate, you name it. And when we got them to pay attention to portion sizes and eating an appropriate amount, they started making progress again. This really takes the biscuit for me as by doing this Slimming World are promoting highly processed foods as healthy!

Diet Coke may be low in calories but it is packed with artificial colours and flavours and the sweetener aspartame. This is by no means a healthy drink and should only be consumed rarely. When foods are highly processed, most of their micronutrients are stripped from them so essentially you are consuming calories without getting important nutrients that your body needs.

Before I finish, I want to raise the issue with the reliance on the 'syn' system. On more than 1 occasion, I've seen it asked how many 'syns' a certain food product has. Then, if the number of syns in that food is unknown, the food is not eaten.

This isn't a good long term approach to take
