Newark Penn, Liberty almost positive , and NYPenn have restrooms—of varying degrees of cleanliness but certainly usable. Plenty of bathrooms in the airport and train station. I do not believe the commuter buses do - you would have to check specific buses. We've found that sometimes the NJ Transit trains bathrooms are locked or otherwise, not available and they are pretty disgusting anyway.
If you got desperate on the train to Penn Station NYC, you could get off at Newark Penn Station for a pit stop-we had to do this a few times when our daughters were little. You also need to think about what you are going to do about bathroom access when you get to NYC and are walking around.
I know it's a short trip, but when you are trapped in a moving vehicle it can feel like a lifetime.. Walking around is less of a problem, if I have a bad day I can stay close to the hotel or move between "safe spots" like bigger stores and fast-food places. I can always adjust my days. What happens when you flush the toilet on a plane? Now when you flush an airplane toilet, a trapdoor in the base opens, liquid is released, and everything is sucked out faster than a Formula 1 race car. Waste whizzes through the plumbing to the rear of the plane, where it's stored in sealed tanks, well away from passengers, until the plane touches down. Where does the poop go on a plane? From the lavatory, the waste travels through the plane's pipes to the rear of the plane and remains in a tank that can only be accessed from the exterior of the plane — pilots can't clear the tanks during the flight.
The tank is emptied by special service trucks once the plane is safely on the ground. How do Amtrak coaches sleep?
