A year-old mythical creature is on a mission to find true love in Hans Christian Andersen's story. The lengths she goes to achieve that is nothing like Walt Disney's fairytale.
The original story is dark that included a murder and suicide. When Little Mermaid visits Ursula, the Sea Witch she strikes a deal, swapping her voice and tongue for legs. She will only survive if she wins over the affections of the Prince. In Hans' version, she doesn't get the man of her dreams as he marries someone else, according to a report by The Sun.
The heartbroken girl is offered another ultimatum by the Sea Witch. Murder the prince to live. She agrees but doesn't go through with the deal. She eventually dissolves into foam. But as her spirit floats in the sky, she gains a soul by having to carry out good deeds for years.
In the Danish author's tale Little Mermaid's sisters were also not innocent. As her spirit floats in the sky, she eventually earns a soul by carrying out good deeds for a whole years before ascending into heaven.
After looking into the original tale, it's no surprise that Disney decided to make some adjustments. But the Little Mermaid's fate wasn't the only dark plotline that featured in the Danish author's tale.
Not only does the book describe him being entertained by female slaves at his palace, his affections for the Little Mermaid are rather creepy. At one point, he even admits he loves her "as he would love a little child", which is not surprising giving the character's young age.
Recently, we revealed the true meaning behind these popular kids' nursery rhymes Mako Island was formed by a comet that crashed into the Earth. With intent to sabotage Ariel's relationship with Eric so she can continue with her evil plan, Ursula takes the form of a beautiful human female with Ariel's voice. Under the alias "Vanessa", Ursula bewitches Eric to marry her. Ariel is the seventh-born daughter of King Triton and Queen Athena of an underwater kingdom of merfolk called Atlantica.
She has no last name. He's so handsome. Against her father's instructions that forbid her fascination with the human world, especially any contact with it, Ariel sees Ursula, the sea witch, and exchanges her voice for legs. Giving up her voice not only means she can no longer sing , but more importantly, that she can no longer speak.
Ursula offers to change Ariel into a human in exchange for her voice "Poor Unfortunate Souls". Prince Eric must kiss her within three days or Ariel will turn back into a mermaid and become Ursula's slave. When Prince Eric attempts to rescue Ariel, Ursula loses control of her magic shell and Ariel's voice is restored.
Ariel cannot bring herself to kill the prince, however, and just as the sun is beginning to rise, she throws herself from the wedding boat into the water and becomes seafoam. Did ariel die in the little mermaid? Why does Ariel want to be a human?
How old is the Little Mermaid husband? What is the real story of mermaid? Is Ursula Ariel's mom? Why does Ariel dad hate humans?
